INMUNE SYSTEM DISORDERS

1. Immune system

The body system that protects you from illness.

Your immune system helps you stay healthy.

2. Antibodies

Small proteins that fight viruses and bacteria.

Your body makes antibodies when you are sick.

3. Pathogen

A germ that makes you sick (virus, bacteria).

Pathogens can cause diseases.

4. Vaccine

A medicine that protects you from diseases.

Vaccines help prevent serious illnesses.

5. Allergy

When your body reacts badly to something normally safe (like dust or food).

She has an allergy to peanuts.

6. Inflammation

When part of your body is red, hot, swollen, or painful.

The cut caused inflammation.

7. Chronic disease

A disease that lasts a long time.

Diabetes is a chronic disease.

8. Autoimmune disease

When the body attacks itself by mistake.

Some people have autoimmune diseases.

9. Rheumatoid arthritis

A disease that causes pain and swelling in joints.

It makes it hard to move your hands.

10. Lupus

A disease where the body attacks skin, joints, and organs.

Lupus can affect different parts of the body.

11. Type 1 diabetes

A disease where the body cannot make insulin.

People need insulin to control sugar.

12. Multiple sclerosis (MS)

A disease that affects the brain and nerves.

It can cause weakness and problems moving.

13. Celiac disease

A condition where the body reacts badly to gluten (bread, pasta).

People with celiac can’t eat gluten.

14. Histamine

A chemical in the body that causes allergy symptoms (like sneezing).

Histamine makes your nose run.

15. Steroids

Medicines that reduce pain and swelling.

Doctors use steroids for inflammation.

16. Autoantibodies

Antibodies that attack your own body.

They are common in autoimmune diseases.

17. Immunosuppressant

A medicine that makes the immune system weaker.

It helps stop the body from attacking itself.

18. Remission

A time when a disease gets better or disappears.

The patient is in remission.

19. Mucous / Mucus

A thick liquid in the nose or throat.

You produce mucus when you have a cold.

20. Secretes

When the body produces and releases something.

The body secretes mucus.


















GROUP WORK : ROLE PLAY
In groups of 3. Each student will have a role.

1. Patient
2. Doctor
3. Relative

You have to create a role play (2 minutes) showing:
  • What the disease is
  • Symptoms
  • How the patient feels
  • Advice or treatment
